Shine for Sian Cross Bay Walk raises £4,000 for Lancashire Mind
Shine for Sian supporters came together for a beautiful walk across Morecambe Bay, in memory of Sian Waterhouse.
People from across Lancashire came together on Sunday (July 4, 2021) to support Lancashire Mind and Shine for Sian, in the first face-to-face event since March 2020.
Over 70 people walked over 6 miles across ‘the bay’ from Arnside to Grange Over Sands to raise awareness and funds for better mental health in Lancashire – taking in incredible scenery and enjoying a wonderful atmosphere led by the Guides over Sands.
Walkers raised a staggering £4,000, with many of them raising funds and walking in memory of Sian Waterhouse, 16, as part of the Shine for Sian campaign – which places a spotlight on mental health and donates all fundraising proceeds to Lancashire Mind. To date, the Shine for Sian campaign has raised over £50,000 for Lancashire Mind, to help support the work we do.
Fundraising Lead Emma Bateson said: “The Cross Bay Walk was a really special day. It has been so long since we have been able to hold a face-to-face event and there really is nothing better for us than getting to meet the people who support us and thank them in person.
“Sian’s family and friends have been an incredible support to Lancashire Mind and continue to raise so much awareness for the charity and we can not thank them enough for this. We hope to be a part of this event again in 2022 continuing to remember Sian, and raise funds and awareness to help others.”
A big thank you to all those who took part in the Cross Bay Walk for Lancashire Mind.
