Lancashire Mind chosen as Mayor’s Charity
The New Mayor for South Ribble has selected Lancashire Mind as one of his chosen charities.
Long-standing Councillor and Leader of the Liberal Democrat group, Councillor Howarth has chosen to support Lancashire Mind as his family has been touched by mental health.
Lancashire Mind CEO Tommy McIlravey recently attended the Mayor’s Installation Banquet in Leyland alongside Lancashire Mind Trustee Sue Barker. Tommy delivered a speech during the event explaining the vital work that Lancashire Mind do.
Mayor of South Ribble, Councillor David Howarth said, “It is an honour to support Lancashire Mind. The work they do right across our communities to support those struggling with their mental health is incredible, not least the work they have done in the past to support my own family.
“As Mayor, I’ll be doing all I can this year to raise awareness of the amazing cause and to fundraise as much as I can to help ensure Lancashire Mind can help even more people.
“It was my pleasure to welcome CEO Tommy McIIravey to our recent Installation Banquet as a token of my sincere gratitude and appreciation for all the team do at Lancashire Mind.

Tommy said: “I was delighted to attend the Installation Banquet. The evening was most enjoyable and uplifting. The Mayor and Mayoress were such warm and welcoming hosts. The evening was a credit to the warmth and passion of the people of South Ribble and I’m grateful for the many positive conversations I had with guests throughout the evening.
“I would like to thank Councillor Howarth for using his time as Mayor to help raise funds and awareness for better mental health in Lancashire and very much look forward to inviting the Mayor and Mayoress to see some of our projects in action over the next year.”
