Sunrise Walk: Step Up for Men's Mental Health

Join Lancashire Mind for an 8km Sunrise Walk

Men, it’s time to take that first step.

This April, Lancashire Mind is calling on 100 men to take part in our first-ever Sunrise Walk – an 8km challenge through the breathtaking landscapes of Rivington. This men-only event is about breaking the stigma, starting conversations, and showing that men’s mental health matters.

Will you take the challenge?

We know that talking about mental health isn’t always easy. But sometimes, the best conversations happen side by side, not face to face. This walk is your chance to connect with like-minded men, challenge yourself, and show that mental health matters.

💙 No pressure. No judgement. Just men walking together.

Why This Walk Matters

Men’s mental health is in crisis.

Men are three times more likely to die by suicide than women. (Samaritans)
Only 36% of NHS talking therapy referrals are men. (NHS England)

Too often, men suffer in silence, feeling the pressure to “man up” instead of opening up. This event is about changing that narrative – by bringing men together, creating a safe space to connect, and proving that mental health is not a weakness, it’s a priority.

The Challenge: What to Expect

  • An early start, for a powerful cause
  • Starting at Rivington Brewery, 5:00 AM
  • 8km route through the stunning Rivington landscape
  • A men-only event, designed to support each other
  • Breakfast at Rivington Brewery after the walk

This isn’t about small talk—it’s about real talk, fresh air, and shared experiences.

Who Is This Walk For?

This walk is for every man who wants to:

✅ Take time to focus on his mental wellbeing
✅ Challenge himself physically and mentally
✅ Support a mate who might be struggling
✅ Be part of something bigger

Whether you’re walking for yourself, for a friend, or for all men facing mental health struggles, this event is your chance to step forward, together.

"There continues to be a disparity in the way men and women talk about their mental health and access services for their mental health. This puts men at much higher risk and is why suicide rates in males are higher. This event is about getting outside, connecting and doing something to show the importance of men’s mental health.
