A Lancashire where everyone can have the best mental health and wellbeing possible.

Connecting, Supporting, and Changing Minds for Better Mental Health.

Lancashire Mind is an independent mental health charity dedicated to improving the mental health and wellbeing of the people of Lancashire.

Based in Chorley, the organisation supports individuals of all ages through a variety of services, including virtual and in-person wellbeing coaching, therapeutic services, housing support, community engagement projects and workplace wellbeing.

Lancashire Mind focuses on prevention, education and support, aiming to reduce mental health stigma and promote understanding. We work collaboratively with local communities and other organisations to advocate positive mental health for everyone. Our services are tailored to meet the diverse needs of Lancashire’s residents, ensuring that everyone can achieve the best mental health possible.

Lancashire Mind’s Strategy

Connecting Minds:

Understanding and amplifying people’s experiences of mental health across Lancashire to foster a deeper communal understanding and support network.

Supporting Minds:

Offering a range of services tailored to meet the unique needs of local individuals and communities, ensuring accessible and effective mental health care.

Changing Minds:

Challenging stigma and enhancing knowledge about mental health to create a more inclusive and informed society.

We see a future where everyone in Lancashire understands their mental health and wellbeing, see it as important as physical health and know how to look after it. We believe that only a universal approach, which gets everyone talking about and understanding mental health, will result in the achievement of mental wellbeing for everyone across Lancashire.

Our aims and objectives:

Listen, learn and influence
We want to talk to people across Lancashire to find out what matters to them. We’ll speak to those who represent the diversity of Lancashire, and we’ll use what we learn from that task to inform the people in power. We’ll also use our findings to ensure what we deliver fits with people’s needs, allowing us to be a leading voice for change around mental health.

Work with others to make positive changes
We want to make strong links with the organisations who are already working with the people that we want to reach. This will help us to form powerful partnerships which improve people’s mental health. When coming up with ways to solve problems, we’ll work alongside people who need help, giving them the time and skills to help us create new services which will be easier to access and more effective in their delivery.

Make it easy to talk about mental health and wellbeing
We want to help people understand more about mental health and wellbeing. To do this, we will seek to understand the barriers that different communities face in talking about mental health and find ways to overcome these. We’ll teach people ways to help themselves and others around them, with a focus on working with young people who might be learning about mental health for the first time. We will encourage others to listen to people’s stories to improve their understanding of mental health, ensuring that people can have open conversations about poor mental health, without feeling any shame.

We are assessed against standards set out in the Mind Quality Mark. We complete an annual self-assessment and are externally assessed every three years. We were last assessed by an external panel in 2023 and following submission of evidence and completion of actions, we were awarded our continuing status as an MQM approved local Mind in March 2024. We will undergo our next external assessment towards the end of 2026.
